·         They mention feelings of fear (using dashes)

·         Using ellipsis (…) / indicates the sentence/ the story is not finished giving and an atmosphere of mystery.

·         When the story on a dramatic revelation/cliffhanger.

·         When they mention scary characters / a threat.

·         They use italics for mysterious elements e.g.   There was a Dark  look in her face.

·         They choose clue mysterious vocabulary, e.g. ‘lost’, ‘dark’, ‘lonely’, ‘frightened 

’‘tightened with fear’.
